When visiting the
dentist in Portugal you will find that many of them of very
child friendly and do everything that they can to make
frightened children, and adults for that matter, feel more
at ease. You wouldn't expect anything else really but it
really does make a big difference, especially when you are
in a foreign country.
If your grasp of the Portuguese language is not so good and
you live in a rural area it would be advisable to book up
with a dentist in one of the larger towns or cities and try
to keep on top of your dental care with a check up every six
months or so. That is far easier than having to go to a
local dentist who doesn't speak English, don't get me wrong,
these smaller dentists will probably be very good but you
may find yourself having difficulty to be understood and
that is the last thing you want in an emergency.
